Composing the Magic

Every great adventure needs a great soundtrack — and Adventure Land is no exception. For this devlog, we’re diving into the heart (and ears!) of the game: the music.

This time, the journey was a true family collaboration. We teamed up with our longtime friends, the incredibly talented Furch family. Richard Furch — a Grammy-nominated music producer and mixing engineer — has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, but for this session, he was just “dad,” jamming with us deep into the night to bring Adventure Land’s world to life.

Richard studied at Berklee College of Music, where he met his wife Kyler England — one of my closest friends since high school. The three of us moved from NYC to LA together more than 20 years ago. These days, our families spend a lot of time together — including Philippa, Penny’s mummy — and watching our kids become creative collaborators is one of the real joys of this project.

Together with Richard and the kids, we composed three original tracks for the game:

  • Home Theme – a warm, nostalgic melody that captures the cozy feeling of the player’s starting house

  • Shops & Windmill Theme – whimsical and layered, perfect for moments of curiosity and discovery

  • World Exploration Theme – an interactive piece that grows more intense as enemies approach

What made this session special wasn’t just the music, but the way we created it. Richard performed every instrument live, layering textures in real time while we all contributed ideas — humming melodies, tapping rhythms, shaping moods. It was one of those rare, collaborative nights where everything just clicked.

We wanted the soundtrack to feel handcrafted, heartfelt, and full of wonder — blending retro fantasy charm with a modern twist. And we’re especially excited that the musical journey is still unfolding: Penny and the kids have begun writing the official theme song for the entire game!
